Many women struggle with confidence as entrepreneurs.
But there’s good news – you can build your confidence and get unstuck.
It feels scary to say out loud who we are as entrepreneurs. And I think that says a lot.
It says a lot about our age, the type of businesses we have, about how much information is out there and the education that is available at the click of a button, and it says a lot about why so many women feel stuck in where they are in their business right now.
But First, What is Confidence?
First things first, we need to understand what confidence really means. Many people mix up confidence with arrogance. But they are not the same.
One of the best definitions I read came from the website KidsHealth.org:
Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way. Confidence isn’t about feeling superior to others. It’s a quiet inner knowledge that you’re capable. (source)
What is Entrepreneur Confidence?
Being a confident female business owner not saying you’re the expert of everything and you can go out there and you can make no mistakes.
It is, however, acknowledging your skills, your talents, the experience you have. It’s understanding the importance of the hours and days you’ve put into your business, the hours you put into serving your clients. When you combine all that together it can become a quiet inner knowledge that you are capable.
So many of us, when we’re looking at our businesses, we don’t feel capable. What do we do about that? We work on the following three areas to grow our confidence as an entrepreneur.
#1: REST: Learn to Work From Rest
Do you ever feel so busy that you can’t think straight? I have felt that way too. It’s important to take a step back and rest.
Rest helps us think clearly and see what really matters. You can’t work well if you’re always tired. So, tell busyness to take a step back and allow yourself some rest. This will help you think better and make good decisions.
Remember: Busyness lies to us and tells us everything is urgent and it’s all up to us. Don’t believe the lies of busyness. Instead find clarity and calm in rest.
#2: IDENTITY: Have the Courage Show Up As You In Your Business
Next, you need to show up as your true self in your business. Stop trying to be someone else. Find out what type of entrepreneur you are. Do you like working with small groups or large groups? Do you prefer one-on-one coaching or group sessions? Do you like offering products or services?
Sometimes we try to fit into a mold that doesn’t suit us. And that is stressful and can lead to doubt and confusion. We start thinking something is wrong with us.
The problem is we are not showing up as us.

#3: ACTION: Don’t Forget to Take Action
Once you know who you are and have rested, it’s time to take action. This is a crucial step that many entrepreneurs skip. Taking action builds confidence. Start small and take the next logical step. Don’t try to jump ten steps ahead. Just focus on what you know and move forward from there.
Taking action helps you gain more clarity and boosts your confidence. It’s a cycle:
clarity → confidence → taking action → leads to more clarity → and repeat
When we don’t take action we lose momentum and our confidence.
