Recently I’ve been journeying into the world of market research and boy am I learning a lot. It’s helped me understand some things about my business and the businesses of others.
Throughout it all, there’s been a key theme rising to the top: showing up as your true, quirky self in business is important. Not only that but it can change your business, and you.
Be YOU or Blend Into the Crowd
Many of us try to be what we think we should be. In the things we create, the services we offer, and the way we market ourselves, we often don’t show our true selves. This makes business feel hard and unsuccessful. When we blend into the crowd, we aren’t heard by the people we need to reach. It makes everything feel overwhelming and difficult.
Learning To Be Me in My Business Has Been A Journey
The business I started is vastly different from where I am today. In 2008 I started as a virtual assistant and made sure that my brand, how I showed up in my business presented a casual tone. I wanted to be approachable and relatable.
Since that initial start I’ve gone through 2 significant rebrands. Each rebrand allowed me to show up as fully me.
My first rebrand was the next step in allowing more of my personality to show through. I was more confident in my skills, abilities, and how I helped my clients best.
That led to my final rebrand where I realized I had outgrown what I had built and it was time to bring all that I loved under the one umbrella of Selah Studios.
This journey took time and included asking lots of questions. Lots of questions. It took a willingness to be honest and make some hard decisions
A hard journey but a worthwhile one.
The Importance of Understanding Your Entrepreneurial Self
Knowing who you are as an entrepreneur brings confidence. It helps you choose the right methods and mentors. It also makes your marketing better and your client relationships stronger.
With that confidence, you have a better understanding of you, your business, your clients, your marketing and so much more.
So please, embrace your unique, quirky self in business. Really. It makes everything easier and helps you show up better. Plus, we need YOU not a copy of someone else.
