The Selah Entrepreneur Podcast - Episode 42

The 4 Common Blocks & What to Do About Them

Block #1. Information Overload: Too Much Noise – Take time to evaluate the sources of all the noise coming at you in your business and personal life. Consider reducing noise from your inbox, social media, courses, programs, and podcasts that may be overwhelming you and hindering your clarity journey.

The Fix: Unsubscribe, unfollow, or mute the sources of confusion that are adding unnecessary noise to your decision-making process.

Block #2. Isolation: Doing Business Alone – Reflect on whether you are feeling isolated in your entrepreneurial journey. Author Barbara Sher says, “Isolation is the dream killer” , and I think she’s right. Being alone can be demotivating and discouraging. Not having a safe place to share the highs and lows of the entrepreneurial journey can leave you feeling that no one understands.

The Fix: Consider reaching out to join a mastermind group, seeking a business mentor, or finding a supportive community to help provide feedback, guidance, and encouragement. Connecting with like-minded individuals can provide valuable insight and support.

Block #3. Overthinking & Making Things Complicated: Review your current projects and business strategies to ensure you are not overcomplicating things. We are creative and idea people. How often do we take a simple and doable idea, dream big and suddenly the simple is big and complicated? It can make us question everything.

The Fix: Seek feedback from a trusted business colleague or friend to help simplify your ideas and strategies, allowing for clearer communication with your clients and potential stakeholders.

Block #4. Flying By the Seat of Your Pants – Running your business by the seat of your pants can result in stress, overwhelm, and reactive decision-making. Instead of being proactive and strategic, you find yourself constantly reacting to the challenges that arise, hindering your ability to maintain clarity and focus on your business direction.

The Fix: developing routine pause and reflect practices, such as a weekly business review and strategic planning. By setting aside dedicated time to assess your business, reflect on accomplishments and challenges, and plan ahead, you can transition from reactive management to proactive decision-making. This shift empowers you to make purposeful and strategic choices that align with your business objectives, fostering clarity and growth.

When you take the time to identify, and then address, these common blocks, you are paving the way for a clearer and more purposeful entrepreneurial journey. Through intentionally reducing the noise coming at you, seeking community support, streamlining your approach, and adopting pause and reflect routines, you can overcome these obstacles and design a business that focuses on sustainable growth and success.

Remember, the journey to entrepreneurial clarity is an ongoing process, requiring intentional effort and review. As you overcome these common blocks to business clarity you are cultivating a business that fosters clarity, purpose, and meaningful progress.
