Ep. 41 – Is Your Business Clarity Journey Stressing You Out?

Are you struggling with navigating the stress of your business clarity journey?

Are you in the midst of a business clarity journey? Do you find yourself feeling stressed out and overwhelmed by the process of finding direction and vision for your business?

It’s a common experience, and it’s important to remember that clarity doesn’t come instantly. It’s a journey of discovery and finding answers layer by layer. As you navigate through this journey, here are some key points to keep in mind to help you alleviate the stress and find joy in the process.

The Selah Entrepreneur Podcast - Episode 41 - Is Your Business Clarity Journey Stressing You Out?

In this episode, were exploring the stress and challenges of the business clarity journey, discussing the impact of comparisonitis, toxic hustle, and the lies of busyness.

We also take a look at the importance of pausing, assessing, clarifying, and executing in the PACE Method(TM) to business clarity.

So, if you’re feeling the weight of your business clarity journey, Marta invites you to take a step back, relax your grip, and remember that finding business clarity is a personal journey that takes time. It’s about finding a sustainable pace for progress and acknowledging the beauty in the messy middle of the journey.

Stress #1: The Tyranny of the Urgent

When you’re on your business clarity journey, it can often feel like the tyranny of the urgent. It feels like everything is important and that you need to spend a lot of time working on this to figure it out. It may feel urgent, but it’s not. The tyranny of the urgent is not telling us the truth, in fact it is lying to us.

It is your pace. It is your clarity, not anyone else’s.

So even though the tyranny of the urgent says, go, go, go, you know, maybe you don’t need to. Maybe when we’re not fighting the journey of being stuck between the current business that we have and the business that we want.

Maybe if we relaxed our grip a little bit, we’d be a lot less stressed and probably we’d probably find our clarity a little bit faster and our mental energy wouldn’t be all consumed with this business clarity journey.

Stress #2: Comparisonitis & Rushing Through Growth

Just like the tyranny of the urgent, comparisonitis lies. You may see friends and colleagues that have been working towards a new direction in their business and they are doing great and they’re making great strides and here you are feeling so stuck trying to figure out what you’re supposed to be.

Don’t compare your chapter 3 to their chapter 20 because you don’t know what they’ve been through to get to this point where their business is going really well. And then also, go, go, go doesn’t get you there any faster. Sometimes more is just more. Sometimes faster is just faster.

We don’t recognize what we’ve learned because we rarely take the time to slow down and and take a look at it and ask some questions about it.

  • Why did that work?
  • Why did I get insight there?
  • What did that insight lead to?
  • Why did that course that I took not work, not help me?
  • Why did that coach what they said on Instagram really helped me, but that somebody said something similar on Facebook and I didn’t get it. It didn’t click. Why?

Without adopting a regular habit of pausing and reflecting and evaluating what you’ve been going through and what your journey has been like, you don’t recognize the the clarity that you’ve gained. You don’t always recognize how far you’ve come.

When we use a routine like the PACE Method to Business Clarity we create habits of pause and reflect to recognize how far we’ve come. This can be an important step in reducing stress in our clarity journey.

Stress #3: The Lies of Busyness or Toxic Hustle

Because the “do more” in your business becomes the focus. And when you are doing more and not paying attention to your pace and your journey.

Doing more is just doing more and it becomes busy work. And it becomes busy work because it feels like you’re doing something, rather than making effective, positive progress, you’re just doing work on the easy stuff or things that are occupying you so that you feel like you’re making progress.

Busyness lies to us. The tyranny of the urgent lies to us. Comparisonitis lies to us. Hustle culture lies to us. And so sometimes you do need to step away from your business or your laptop or your journal or whatever is keeping you glued to your business clarity journey.

If you feel stuck in the cycle of busyness and urgency, then it is time to step away from it, give yourself a break and go enjoy life.

Because why are we on this clarity journey if we’re losing the joy out of life? And when you let the business clarity journey become all consuming, when you let the business clarity journey become your primary focus, it can suck the joy out of the rest of everything that you’re doing. It can suck the joy out of your life. It can make you stressed out. It can make you frustrated and you notice that you’re getting sharper and short-tempered in other areas of your life.

You need to do it at your pace. And this is your clarity. This isn’t anyone else’s. This is your business. This is your life, really. This is finding out your vision and your direction, and it’s worth taking the time to figure it out instead of rushing through it.

A few final thoughts to consider
